Everyone with More than One Computer Needs This
13 December 2010 @ 13:43 GMT
by Paul

Every person with more than one computer needs this.

sudo apt-get install x11vnc

This installs a vnc server on one computer. On another computer do this:

sudo apt-get install xtightvncviewer

This installs a vnc client.

On the computer whose desktop you want access to (i.e. on the server) do something like this:

x11vnc -many -passwd -ncache 10

Substitute a suitable password for <password>. The option represented by the switch -ncache is a way to lessen redundant network activity.

Now, you can work on the 'desktop' of one computer from the desktop of another.
