Migrating to Thunderbird

Email clients...there isn't a single perfect one. But I've started using Thunderbird, especially now that I've set up Courier and IMAP. IMAP is far easier to use through Thunderbird than mutt.

But it leaves the question about what to do with your existing mail. This document has the answer or, at least, some of the answers. Thunderbird stores mail in mbox format. This means that you can just copy any existing mbox files into Thunderbird's 'Mail/Local Folders' directory.

I did that, and it didn't work. The reason was that Thunderbird needed to be restarted - it's not that smart that it rechecks its local

Comments disabled
